Simple Bookbinding: Greeting Card Journals

In this 90-minute workshop, you will learn a straightforward hand-binding technique to create small, slim books using greeting cards as covers.

Working with carefully selected materials, we will assemble and bind books while exploring composition, texture, and the quiet pleasure of making by hand.

All supplies are included, including greeting cards, binding materials, paper, and an abundant assortment of ephemera for layering, decorating, and personalizing each piece. Materials will be provided in greater quantity than needed during class so students leave with inspiration—and extra supplies—to continue making at home.

Part journal, part keepsake, part object—these books are designed to be useful, beautiful, and entirely individual. No previous experience is required.
